Understudy Andrew Call will take on the role of Phil Connors for both the 2 PM and 8 PM performances Wednesday, April 19, the 7 PM performance April 20, and the 2 PM matinee on Saturday, April 22.

Two-thirds into the second act on April 14, Karl injured himself during a choreographed leapfrog routine, halting the performance and causing him to perform the remainder of the show with a cane. The next day's matinee was canceled, and Call went on that evening.

Featuring a score by Tim Minchin and a book by Danny Rubin, Groundhog Day follows Phil Connors, a disgruntled weatherman stuck in small-town America who relives the same day over and over again. As he gets to know associate TV producer Rita Hanson (played by Barrett Doss) for the first time repeatedly, he realizes it’s an opportunity for second, third, and fourth chances.

The Matthew Warchus-helmed production began performances at the August Wilson Theatre March 16.

Karl’s performance schedule is subject to change.
