Following a world premiere in Chicago earlier this year, Pretty Woman: The Musical celebrates its official opening on Broadway August 16. Directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, the contemporary stage adaptation of the popular 1990 romantic comedy stars Samantha Barks as Vivian alongside Andy Karl as Edward.
Based on the Julia Roberts-Richard Gere movie about a star-crossed meeting between a sex worker and a disillusioned businessman, the stage musical features a book co-written by the film’s director, the late Garry Marshall, and screenwriter J.F. Lawton, and music by Grammy winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance.
Pretty Woman: The Musical is playing the Nederlander Theatre where the show began previews July 20.
