Tams-Witmark Music Library has secured the global amateur and professional licensing rights to An American In Paris, the Gershwin musical first made famous on film by Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron before coming to Broadway in 2015.
Directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, the musical earned 12 Tony nominations and won four, including Best Choreography for Wheeldon. Set in Paris just after World War II, it follows a young American soldier and a captivating French dancer falling in love in the City of Light.
“We are delighted to include An American in Paris among the musicals in our catalog,” said Tams-Witmark President Sargent Aborn in a statement. “An American in Paris is a gorgeous show with some of the finest Gershwin melodies and songs. Based on an iconic motion picture, the story should resonate with everyone.”
For over 90 years, Tams-Witmark Musical Library has been a leader in the licensing industry with thousands of shows performed in schools and community theatres each year.
