The production bowed starring Jamael Westman in the titular role, but Hamilfans around the world have been wondering if the show’s creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda, will step into the Founding Father’s shoes.
The man who was Tony-nominated for his performance in the role on Broadway told audiences in a pre-curtain speech that he would return to the role in the London production, but not before 2019.
Miranda is already set to reprise the role in a production of Hamilton in Puerto Rico in January 2019.
"I'm not done with this role by any stretch, and of course it's a dream of mine to act in the West End at some point," he told reporters, according to the BBC.
The production also stars Giles Terera as Aaron Burr, Rachel John as Angelica Schuyler, Rachelle Ann Go as Eliza Hamilton, Christine Allado as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds, Tarinn Callender as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison, Michael Jibson as King George, Jason Pennycooke as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson, Cleve September John Laurens/Philip Hamilton, and Obioma Ugoala as George Washington.
